The very first wave of confirmations includesThe Square by Ruben Östlund, winner of the Palme d'Or in Cannes. With its multi-layered and sarcastically revealing humour, it raises controversial questions about the current image of ourselves and society and focuses on the dazzling world of modern art.
If you want to see Hamburg on the big screen again, Markus Goller's filmSimple which celebrates its German premiere at Filmfest Hamburg. Hamburg and the North were the main filming locations for the story about a special brotherly relationship. The film starring David Kross and Frederick Lau will be shown in selected cinemas in the Hamburg metropolitan region during the festival as part of the "Stadt, Land, Filmfest" event series in cooperation with Hamburg Marketing.
