New platform for diversity management in the film industry launched

OMNI now available throughout Germany

Following the successful pilot phase, OMNI Inclusion Data is now being launched for the entire German film and media industry. For the first time, the platform offers a data-based foundation to make diversity in productions measurable. This was announced today at the 75th Berlinale in the Hamburg State Representation with industry representatives from film funding, production and streaming.

Hamburg Tea Time and two films in competition

On Saturday, 15 February, the Hamburg Senate and MOIN Film Fund invited the Hamburg film industry to Tea Time at the Hamburg State Representation in Berlin as part of the Berlinale. Among the guests were the "Yunan" actors Hanna Schygulla, Sibel Kekilli and Tom Wlaschiha as well as cult director Fatih Akin. Also present: the "Die Discounter" team around Marc Hosemann and Merlin Sandmeyer as well as leading actor Hans Löw from the competition film "Mother's Baby".

Oscar nomination for Hamburg filmmaker

"The seed of the sacred fig"

With "The Seeds of the Sacred Fig", filmmaker and Hamburg resident Mohammad Rasoulof has made it to the final five films for the foreign Oscar - and is now nominated as the German entry for the film world's most important prize. Following İlker Çatak's nomination last year for "The Teachers' Lounge", this is the second time in a row that a Hamburg project has been nominated for the Oscars in Los Angeles.

Two MOIN films in competition

No fewer than four North German productions will be shown in this year's 75th Berlinale programme - two of them even in the Competition: the drama "Yunan" by Hamburg Director Ameer Fakher Eldin with Hanna Schygulla, Sibel Kekilli and Tom Wlaschiha was shot on a Hallig in Schleswig-Holstein. The international co-production "Mother's Baby" by filmmaker Johanna Moder was shot in the Elbphilharmonie concert hall, among other locations.

1.6 million euros for new films and series

At the start of the year, MOIN Film Fund is supporting a total of 19 projects with more than 1.6 million euros. These include the new documentary "Anatolischer Drache" by Fatih Akin and the horror comedy "Body Farm" with Hamburg actor Sebastian Bezzel. In addition, eleven projects in development were supported in the new NEST funding area.

"The seed of the sacred fig"

The next step on the Oscar podium has been taken: Directors and Hamburg resident Mohammad Rasoulof is on the shortlist for the foreign Oscar with his drama "The Seeds of the Sacred Fig". The Cannes film, produced in Hamburg, is in the running for Germany and now has to prevail against 14 other international films.
