Virtual reality meets art
16.05.2018 | VRHAM! 2018
Welcome to Germany's first artistic virtual reality festival: VRHAM! A total of 16 VR experiences by different artists from all over the world are waiting to be discovered by you from 7 to 17 June in Hamburg. An experiment that has never been seen before in this form. So make a BIG mark in your diary!
Immerse yourself, let go, experience new worlds: Anyone who has previously had reservations about virtual reality or simply found the new technology superfluous should pay a visit to the Oberhafenquartier (Hall 2) in Hamburg from 7 to 17 June. Festival director Ulrich Schrauth and his team have put together a programme that should appease even the biggest VR pessimists - the new technology merges with artistic ideas in a unique way.
A total of 16 international artists will bring their work to life for visitors with the help of VR glasses - thematically, everything revolves around the two themes of "Home" and "Shift" in line with this year's Triennial of Photography Hamburg. The former deals with questions of belonging, security and migration, while the latter sheds light on the paradigm shift in our society. In addition to the experiences of artists such as Jonathan Meese (Germany), Lester Francois (Australia) and Mathieu Pradat (France), there will be various panel discussions and workshops on the topics of art, society and VR. In cooperation with the Zeit-Stiftung and the NORDAKADEMIE Foundation, two prizes will also be awarded on 17 June.
The festival's sponsors and co-operation partners include Telekom, the Körber Foundation, the Ministry of Culture and Media and the Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein. Admission is free - but we recommend that you book in advance to avoid waiting times and guarantee you admission. You can find more information about the programme here:www.vrham.de/
