Set visit to the "Golden Glove"
31.07.2018 | Fatih Akin's new neighbourhood film

Fatih Akin's new film "Der Goldene Handschuh" takes us back to St. Pauli in the 1970s - and right into the heart of the neighbourhood pub where Fritz Honka, the murderer of women, was up to mischief back then.
In the old warehouse in Hamburg's harbour, the team led by Hamburg set designer Tamo Kunz has once again outdone itself: As soon as you step into the recreated neighbourhood pub "Zum Goldenen Handschuh", you feel like you've been transported back to the old St. Pauli - the wood-panelled pub walls, the old beer billboards and the spirits on the shelves do the rest.
Fatih Akin is behind the camera in "Handschuh" - and afterChick (can still be seen in the ARD media library until 04.08.18!) once again has a novel adaptation in his luggage: his filmThe Golden Glove - the first after his international success with Into the Fate - is based on the novel of the same name byHeinz Strunk and is currently being filmed entirely in Hamburg. The film centres on Hamburg woman-killer Fritz Honka, who met his victims in the St. Pauli pub "Zum goldenen Handschuh" and kept the body parts in his attic flat in Hamburg-Altona.

The role of Honka is played by Jonas Dassler, who was also seen on the screens of the Berlinale this year in Lars Kraume's The Silent Classroom (Akzente Film- und Fernsehproduktion).
ProducedThe Golden Glove by Akin's company bombero international in co-production with Warner Bros. Film Productions Germany and Pathé. The production is supported by the German Federal Film Fund (DFFF), Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein (FFHSH), the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) and the German Federal Film Board (FFA).
The Golden Glove will be released in cinemas in 2019 in distribution by Warner Bros. Pictures. The Match Factory will distribute the film worldwide.
