The list of nominees for the German Drama Award was announced this week - a total of four prizes could go to FFHSH-funded projects. Among the nominees are Benjamin Radjaipour for his young talent role in "Futur Drei" and Alina Serban for best actress in "Gipsy Queen".
With Tobias Moretti andAlina Serban are two of the actors in the dramaGipsy Queen by Hüseyin Tabak has been nominated for the German Drama Award. The film about a single Romanian mother who takes up boxing in Hamburg celebrated its premiere at last year's Filmfest Hamburg and will be released in German cinemas on 25 June. Alina Serban is nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role, Tobias Moretti plays her trainer and can hope to win an award for Best Supporting Actor.
Already at the Berlinale 2020Future three by Faraz Shariat caused quite a stir. The queer refugee story won the Teddy Award for Best Feature Film, the Teddy Reader's Award and a second place in the Panorama Audience Award.Benjamin Radjaipour plays the role of the main character Parvis in this debut film and was rightly nominated for the German Acting Award in the "Young Talent" category.
The arthouse horror filmSleep by Michael Venus celebrated its world premiere at the last Berlinale. The film is about a daughter who wants to help her mother, who is plagued by nightmares, uncover an old family secret - and travels to a small village to do so. Here she meets a married couple who run a somewhat peculiar hotel, and the wife is attacked byMarion Kracht played. This has now been nominated in the "Best supporting role" category.
