Explorer Konferenz docks for 2nd round in Hamburg

23.06.2021 | Future Congress in autumn

From producing in the digital age, the reinvention of public broadcasters to diversity as a business opportunity: the second Explorer Konferenz will take place at the beginning of October, docked to FILMFEST HAMBURG. On 8 October, everything will once again revolve around producing for cinema, streaming and TV. The half-day conference will focus on the challenges and opportunities of the current upheaval in the film industry - partly on three stages in parallel.

After a successful start in 2019 and a break in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, the second edition of the Explorer Konferenz will take place on Friday, 8 October 2021, bringing together the European community of independent Executive Producers live in the Hanseatic city and virtually via stream. The conference programme covers a wide range of topics that are currently of interest to film producers in Europe. In keynotes, case studies and workshops, topics such as diversification as a business strategy, virtual and lean production, mega-mergers, EU regulatory projects, producing for streaming services and the situation of arthouse cinema films will be debated.

German and international Speakers provide insights into their work and strategies and impart future-oriented knowledge. In their contributions, they will shed light on current phenomena and developments in a film industry in a state of upheaval. Speakers include Maja Cappello (EU Audiovisual Observatory, Strasbourg), Alexandra Lebret (European Producers Club, Paris), Christoph Fey (copyright lawyer, Berlin), Stephen Robert Morse (Producer, London), Tomas Eskilson (Film y Väst, Trollhättan), Raymond van der Kaaij (Executive Producer, Revolver, Amsterdam), Malika Rabahallah (MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein), Dr Florian Kumb (Head of the ZDF Film Fund). Florian Kumb (Head of the ZDF Programme Planning Department), Marlene Slot (Executive Producer, Viking Film, Amsterdam), Andrea Giannone (Filmarket Hub, Barcelona) and many more.

Community partners of the Explorer Konferenz are ACE Producers, European Producers Club, European Film Promotion, Young Nordic Producers Club. Co-operation partners are Filmarket Hub, Pensionskasse Rundfunk and the Creative Europe Desks Hamburg and Berlin-Brandenburg. Media partners include Screen International and Blickpunkt Film.
