Positive balance of the film trainee programme

Positive results from the first GetOnSet year: around 85 percent of the film trainees found their way into the film world through the programme - and there were more than 150 applications for the second GetOnSet round. The success of the Hamburg Media School and MOIN Film Fund initiative underlines the importance of promoting young talent in the film industry.

The GetOnSet film trainee programme offers participants dual training in various areas of film production, including unit manager, Sound Assistants and camera. It is particularly aimed at professionals from other industries who wish to enter the world of film.

Of the 15 trainees who took part in the first pilot project, the majority will remain in the industry. Some of them have already found a permanent position with a partner company, while others remain as freelancers.

"The aim of the programme is to make it easier for talented people to enter the film industry and to provide them with the necessary skills and experience. The fact that other initiatives are now following our example and launching similar programmes shows that GetOnSet is the pioneering programme in Germany beyond Hamburg's borders - we are very pleased about that".

"We firmly believe that our comprehensive programme of practical experience in the companies, sound theory and individual support from us as HMS will have the most lasting effect on the entire industry," saysUlrike Dobelstein-Lüthe, Head of Continuing Education at the Hamburg Media School.

Demand is also high for the next round of the programme - more than 150 people had applied by the application deadline. Now it is the companies' turn to conduct interviews. The second GetOnSet year will then start at the Hamburg Media School at the beginning of October.

The programme"GetOnSet" is organised by the Hamburg Media School in cooperation with the MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein, the Ministry of Culture and Media and the Social Welfare Department of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
