ProQuote Film, Palais Fluxx and Let's Change The Picture are organising a pitching session for films with women and FLINTAQ* in the leading roles aged 67 and upwards at Filmfest Hamburg on 3 October with the support of MOIN Film Fund.
Age discrimination for women in the film industry begins in their mid-30s and increases with age. Not only does this mean that older women are not recognised in their diversity in our society, older actresses have very limited work opportunities and older Script Writers cannot tell stories from their perspective. We want to counteract this.
With the pitching event, we want to promote networking and open up opportunities for material on the specific topic of women 67+ to be realised. Special attention will be paid to ensuring that the female characters told do not reproduce stereotypes. It should be made clear that material with older people can be not only dramas, but any genre. The lives of women 67+ are diverse, full of excitement, action, sensuality and humour. We want to see more of that!
