New platform for diversity management in the film industry launched
15.02.2025 | OMNI now available throughout Germany

Following the successful pilot phase, OMNI Inclusion Data is now being launched for the entire German film and media industry. For the first time, the platform offers a data-based foundation to make diversity in productions measurable. This was announced today at the 75th Berlinale in the Hamburg State Representation with industry representatives from film funding, production and streaming.
The launch of OMNI is supported by the MOIN Film Fund, Netflix, the Austrian Film Institute (ÖFI), UFA, ARD Degeto Film, Hessen Film & Medien and nordmedia. Together, they are committed to ensuring that diversity in the film industry not only remains a claim, but is backed up with concrete data.
A SHOULDERBOARD FOR LEADING INDUSTRY ACTORS
Helge Albers, CEO of MOIN Film Fund: "With OMNI, we have created an instrument that goes beyond declarations of intent and provides concrete data that film industry players such as production houses, broadcasters, streamers and Fundings can use to implement their diversity strategies in a targeted manner. The fact that we are now starting the industry-wide rollout with strong partners shows that diversity is not an individual task, but an opportunity for the joint development of our industry."
RESULTS OF THE PILOT STUDY
The OMNI pilot phase ran between March and September 2024 in cooperation with the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF. Eleven production companies and projects were invited to participate by five funding institutions - and around 26.5 per cent of the participants completed the questionnaire in full. This means that OMNI got off to a good start. By way of comparison, the British system Diamond achieved a participation rate of 25 per cent in its first year, while the Australian OMNI partner The Everyone Project achieved 38 per cent in 2024. Here is the link to the study by Prof Dr Skadi Loist, Lucy Alejandra Pizaña Pérez and Martha E. Ehrich.
Helge Albers continues: "We want to use this successful start to reach even more production companies, funding institutions and stakeholders. With our simple subscription model, we offer a practical solution to make diversity measurable and strategically realisable. Interested companies and institutions that want to use OMNI for their diversity management can find out more and register directly with us."
NEXT STEP: INDUSTRY-WIDE ROLLOUT
The platform will be officially opened to all production companies, funding organisations and industry players with immediate effect. In parallel, accompanying measures such as training courses and information events will be offered to facilitate the implementation of OMNI in practice.
