After her alcoholic mother’s suicide, IDA ends up on the island of Rügen with no plan, but filled with guilt and anger. Instead of accepting help from her sister TILDA in Hamburg, she finds a sort of surrogate family in KNUT, MARIANNE, and LEIF. Slowly, Ida learns to let her grief in, but just as she begins to heal, her world is thrown into turmoil once again.
