Hamburg
With the third largest container port in Europe, the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg in northern Germany is one of the most important international port cities and trading metropolises. Around 1.8 million inhabitants live in the city state on the Elbe, which covers 755 square kilometres, and around 1,300 of the 15,400 or so media companies are assigned to the film industry. Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany after Berlin.
Schleswig Holstein
Schleswig-Holstein is the land between the seas: Surrounded by the North Sea and Baltic Sea, it borders Denmark to the north and offers magnificent manor houses, sweeping views over marshland and mudflats and a long coastline. Around 2.8 million inhabitants live in an area of 15,761 square kilometres.
