Alsterpalais, former crematorium Ohlsdorf: The former crematory in the Alsterdorfer Straße was built in 1890/91 by the architect Paul Ernst Dorn. It is considered to be the oldest preserved crematorium in Germany. It has a floor space of 800 square meters. The building was designated a listed building in the early 80s. In 1998 it was completely restored and used as a restaurant, which closed in 2002. In 2009 the Flachsland Zukunftsschule started their new education concept in the Alsterpalais.
