Large office building opposite the Laeiszhalle (music hall), former police department. Especially worth mentioning are the magnificent staircase, the circumferential balkonies and the roof terrace of approx. 40sqm. Beside the offices and corridors, there are conference rooms available for shootings.
One of Hamburg´s most prominent concert hall lies on Johannes Brahms square. The neo-baroque building, finished in 1908, has a red brick facade and long windows, in front of which run small balconies with iron railings. The slate roof rests on a broad sandstone border, adorned with a few copper gables and sculptures. The building has two performance halls. The small one has 640 seats and the big hall, which also has a Beckerath organ, has 2,000 seats. Since the first January of 2005, the concert hall is called after his founder: Laeiszhall.
The cinema Metropolis was built in 1952. The entrance and the walls of the courtyard were spray-painted in 1986 by the artists, D. Fedderke and A. Jankowsky. Geldmacher designed the light sculpture in the entrance.
„More than cinema“ - is promised by CinemaxX. All of the 29 cinemas have 4K-image technique and a high modern sound system. Cinemaxx Dammtor is a premier cinema in the center of the city. Lots of national and international stars are walking the red carpet there. Hall 1 covers around 1,000 visitors and has the newest technique like MAXXIMUM SOUND, MAXXIMUM 3D, MAXXIMUM HFR and MAXXIMUM 4K. The biggest screen has about 264 qm surface and offers an optimal view and a movie adventure in xxl size. Moreover, the content level is developing under the motto “More than cinema”, too. There are specials like movies in original version or the popular sneak preview. Additionally to the full program Cinemaxx transmittals art exhibitions, sport events, classic-, rock- and pop concerts as well as opera and ballet performances.
