Underneath the Lombardtsbrücke (connecting the Inner and the Outer Alster) is a suspended area, a vault suitable for shooting (light on the ceiling, special flood gates).
Explosion-proof clothing is necessary for shooting because of fumes. Shooting possible in general. Costs according to project. Areas still in use have to be given the all clear (fumes), supervision, will increase costs. No difficulties filming into the canal from the street. No filming with children in unused aeras.
Water board may close off area, no special permission necessary, application and arrangements 14 days in advance.
Hamburg Water Board is in charge of the sewerage system.
Hamburg´ s former opera house dates back to 1826/27. Between 1953 and 1955, a new 50s-style opera house was built, using anodised gold, travertine marble and an abundance of glass. Shootings are very difficult because there are performances every day. Only possibility is by night. Very good alternatives are the Schauspielhaus (theatre) and the Laeiszhalle (concert hall).
The original brick building of the “Kunsthalle” was built in 1869, a new annex between 1914 and 1921. The “Kunsthalle” of Hamburg is one of the great picture galleries, with important European paintings from the Middle Ages to the present day. In 1997, an extension was built, called the “Galerie der Gegenwart” which is dedicated to contemporary art. The white cubic building of chalky sandstone sits on a base faced in red granite.
The Jungfernstieg alongside the Inner Alster is one of Hamburg's most famous promenades and shopping strips. At the jetty, one can go for a cruise on the Alster, take a break from shopping in the old-established Alsterpavillon or watch the artful inline skaters who practice their daring feats on stairs and open spaces.
The underground station Jungfernstieg is located centrally in Hamburg's city close to the Inner Alster. Through the tunnels both urban railway and underground trains commute. The tubes of the underground trains appear like an architectural vision of the 1960s and, thanks to some shut down platforms, are suitable for film productions.
