From the traditional granary, built in 1925, a lot of crown glasses are looking directly down to the port of Kiel. You get outside to the waterside through the big, former gate. The listed building is just 10 meters away from the water. Rooms can be rented for private celebrations.
Since 1950 has the state parliament its location in the country house in Kiel that is widely visible from the Kieler fjord. The housing is under monumental protection and was originally created for the navy academy of the emperor. The plenary in the glass annex at the water side has been used for plenary sessions of the parliament and government since 2003. Exhibitions, readings and discussions give the public a chance for a visitation of the country house.
With 62 kilometers longitude the Schwentine is one of the longest rivers in Schleswig-Holstein. It has its source at the Bungsberg, district Ostholstein, and flows through the so called "Holsteinische Schweiz" with a lot of lakes until it ends in Kiel in the fjord.
