Public hospital with large main building, located closely to the motorway (exit Hamburg Othmarschen). The tower's rooftop offers an impressive view of Hamburg's port and the western city. It is possible to use a window cleaning platform for shootings. The platform can be manoeuvred alongside the building on special tracks fixed on the roof. A scurrile detail is the "panorama toilet" on the 20th floor - only a ceiling-high window pane separates it from an abyss 75 metres deep. From here, one looks down onto a lawn and a helicopter airfield. The large supply cellars with their numerous pipes, funnels and valves are also interesting film locations. However, due to the fact that the hospital is still in use, the shootings are only possible in respect to the hospital business.
The children's hospital is an outstanding example of the architecture of Altona before the World War II. Plenty of details underline the bright character of the building, such as oriels, loggias, an archway, staircases, baroque towers and various architectural sculptures. The dominant part of the complex composes a cubical-shaped building with a cupola and columns. Also interesting: the eminent combination of the historical part (1914) and the modern building (2004) of the hospital.
The Donnerspark, near the famous Elbchaussee avenue (off no. 75) is named after the Altona merchant Conrad Hinrich Donner, who took up residence in the park in 1820.
