The Norderwerft, founded in 1905, features two docks and three mooring quays. The shipyard employs around 100 people, working in the fields of ship repairs, reconstruction, production of equipment and general services.
The company M.A. Flint GmbH & Co. gave up the business areas of diving and salvage in 2004, so the name “Taucher Flint” (lit. “Diver Flint”) is no longer entirely accurate. It has since specialized in the repair of ships, boats and yachts. The nostalgic company premises have served as a shooting location, e.g. for the Siegfried Lenz adaptation DER MANN IM STROM.
Founded in 1890, H.D. Cotterell is a classic warehouse business, i.e. produce is not bought or sold here, but stored, weighed, appraised, protected and looked after. The premises at Ellerholzdamm consist of altogether 18 halls of varying sizes between 450 and 4,200 square metres. They are used to store cocoa and cocoa products, spices, dried fruit and pulses, carpets and mixed cargo. This year also saw the construction of a melting plant for cocoa mass and cocoa butter on the premises.
