The rather austere but impressive theatre by the name of Neue Flora (the New Flora as against the Old Flora, a former theatre in the Sternschanze district), designed by Kleffel, Köhnholdt and Gundermann, was built between 1989 and 1990.

Monday preferred day as no performances.

The Altona Amtsgericht, a lower district court that has jurisdiction over minor cival and criminal cases, was built between 1873 and 1878. The round brick building is in the style of the Berlin school associated with Schinkel. It is a vivid statement of Altona"s connection with Prussia. Between 1904 and 1907 a new, Renaissance-style, stucco building with stone details was added, associated with the time of Emperor Wilhelm II rather than with the revival architecture of Hamburg-Altona. A plaque reminds us of the first people sentenced to death under the Third Reich in the wake of Altona's blood Sunday in 1932.

1873 was the neo gothic clinker St.Johannis church built in the district Altona. An arson causes a huge damage especially in the tower in summer 1994. The organ was completely destroyed. In fact of this was the church recreated and a new organ was built in. The “cultural church” Altona gGmbH rents the building as a corporation partner of the Altona congregation for cultural and commercial uses. Therefore they are open for shootings. Only on Sundays and on public holidays is the church reserved for service, church music and other congregational events.

The former hospital of Altona was built between 1859 and 1861 with a castle like atmosphere. Despite manifold expansions (for example the 1927 created residential home for nurses) the hospital was given up in 1970, because of the new building in Othmarschen.
Nowadays the building complex is home of the “Staatliche Fachschule für Sozialpädagogik” (College of Social Pedagogy). Long floors and class rooms are on all three floors, in the first floor is also a 100 square meter large conference room and in the basement there is a canteen with an entry to the atrium and the park behind the building. In the former building of the residential home for nurses are especially rooms for music, handcrafts and art.
