Altonaer Rathaus
Platz der Republik 1 - 22765 HamburgThe neo-renaissance town hall, built between 1896 and 1898 used to be part of the train station. The four wings of the building have triangular pediments. Above the main entrance in the north wing the pediment depicts an allegory of the city. The equestrian statue of German Emperor Wilhelm I in front of the town hall was designed by G. Eberlein in 1898. A monument by Sol LeWitt in remembrance of the perished Jews of Altona was erected in 1989.
