WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Your first or second feature film: original, visually powerful and emotional

Your own signature: We are looking for visionaries with a down-to-earth approach

Diversity and sustainability: Diversity and green storytelling & shooting are standards for us.

North German setting: Show us characters, places and stories that characterise the North.

REQUIREMENTS:

At least two of the talents from directing, scriptwriting or production should come from or be based in Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein or Hamburg. The regional effect guidelines of MOIN and nordmedia apply.

WHAT WE OFFER:

Your premiere: A cinema/festival release is possible before the TV broadcast.

Your broadcasting slot: NDR gives your film a big stage: NDR television and ARD media library.

Support from industry professionals and integration into a strong network.

HOW TO APPLY:

The application phase runs until 15 May 2025 via our Nordlichter platform. Submit the following documents:

1. video pitch (max. 3 minutes) on the material idea.

2. synopsis (max. 3 pages): Explain your project to us. What characterises it? And has it already been developed? Is there a treatment or script?

3. vita and filmography of the authors, producers and directors

4. information on the filming and exploitation rights to the material

5. explanation of why your film must be made as part of NORDLICHTER.

What are the Nordlichter?

In 2014, nordmedia - Film- und Mediengesellschaft Niedersachsen/Bremen, MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein and Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) launched a joint funding programme for up-and-coming filmmakers under the title "Nordlichter" and have been supporting the selected projects ever since.
