Wendie Webfest in Hamburg
17.08.2017 | Festival for web series enters the 2nd round
The Wendie Webfest presents itself with a varied mix of screenings, panel discussions and lectures on 1 and 2 September at the Honigfabrik in Hamburg Wilhelmsburg.
What was still a playground for amateur filmmakers a few years ago is gradually attracting more and more established filmmakers: Web series are very popular and reach a worldwide audience through viral effects. TheWendie Webfest focuses on the web format for two days and approaches the topic from very different angles: At the centre of the festival are screenings of independently produced series from all over the world, divided into thematic series blocks: "Crisis", "Society" "Midnight" or "About the Web" - what's behind them? The answer can be found on site.
Visitors can also look forward to numerous panel discussions with experts and Executive Producers such as Konstanze Speidel from Serienwerk GmbH, Rebecca Ahlen from Streamwerke GmbH and representatives from broadcasting organisations such as Lina Kokaly from Radio Bremen, who develops material for the online channel funk on behalf of ARD and ZDF. The topics of the panels will be extremely diverse: for example, the web series scene in Italy will be examined in more detail and the sister format podcast will be discussed. Those who want to know how a web series is created will get a first insight into the production conditions in practical presentations. As a special highlight, the results of the summer workshop Digital Storytelling will be presented at the start of the festival. Over four weekends, teenagers and young adults from Hamburg developed web series concepts in Wilhelmsburg and filmed a first episode.
With its varied programme, the festival, which is supported by the FFHSH, is not only aimed at filmmakers, but also at cineastes and series junkies who are looking for unconventional series formats.
