22.05.2018 | 10th film altonale

Hamburg's "film altonale" is celebrating its 10th anniversary from 1 to 17 June. Several films with North German participation have made it into this year's programme - all of them are dedicated in one way or another to this year's altonale theme "Borders" - or how to cross them.
Now in its 20th edition, the "altonale" in Hamburg-Altona once again presents a varied programme of art and culture, with up to 450,000 visitors expected. The programme ranges from literature and dance to theatre, live music and discussion panels - and this year's film festival is no exception. The "film altonale" is taking place for the tenth time as part of the "altonale". On two monitors and ten screens at a total of 13 locations, film characters enter and cross fictional and real borders: Country borders, gender borders, borders between work and leisure or life and death.
This year's film selection ranges from classics to films that have not yet been shown in the regular cinema programme - including numerous exciting guests. Based on the "pay what you want" principle, for the first time in 2018 everyone pays what the event is worth to them or what they can spare.
Here are a few programme highlights with North German participation:
Viacrucis Migrante - Way of the Cross for Migrants
