In the film adaptation of Daniel Glattauer's bestseller "Gut gegen Nordwind", Nora Tschirner and Alexander Fehling play the two main characters who meet by chance through a typo in an email and develop an increasingly close relationship. The cast also includes Ulrich Thomsen, Ella Rumpf, Claudia Eisinger and Lisa Tomaschewsky. The script was written by Jane Ainscough. Further filming with Alexander Fehling is scheduled for January in Schleswig-Holstein.
The film is being produced by Berlin-based Komplizen Film Produktion (e.g.Toni Erdmann) in co-production with Erfttal Film and Deutsche Columbia Pictures Filmproduktion and will be released in German cinemas on 26 September 2019!
What's the film about? A twisted letter accidentally sends an e-mail from Emma Rothner (NORA TSCHIRNER) to Leo Leike (ALEXANDER FEHLING). The linguist replies promptly. They begin a fast, funny and increasingly intimate email dialogue, the kind you can only have with a stranger. A few weeks and many messages sent and received later, it becomes a virtual friendship. Leo and Emma initially decide to keep their connection purely digital as a little escape from everyday life - because Leo just can't get away from his ex-girlfriend Marlene (CLAUDIA EISINGER) and Emma is married to Bernhard (ULRICH THOMSEN) and has two stepchildren. Nevertheless, the two confide their innermost feelings to each other and grow ever closer on the fine line between total strangeness and non-committal intimacy. And this raises the question of whether they shouldn't meet face to face, because the butterflies that Leo and Emma now have in their stomachs every time their email inbox announces a new message with a "pling" are not just digital at all. But can you really fall in love through words alone? And will the sent, received and stored feelings of love stand up to a real-life encounter? And what if they do?
