Maria Köpf, CEO of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein: "The international film team was looking for a very specific type of bridge for the spectacular chase. They found what they were looking for not in Sweden, but here on the Süderelbe. The Kattwyk Bridge, with its lifting function and striking yellow and blue pillars, was the perfect setting for one of the central action scenes in the film. On the bridge, Lisbeth - played by Claire Foy - encounters her main adversary for the first time: her own sister."
Filming took place from 2 to 4 February in the Port of Hamburg. The filming locations were the Kattwyk Bridge and the A7 motorway at Altenwerder Hauptdeich. Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein supported the project, which incurred high expenditure in Hamburg, with 100,000 euros and worked closely with the Hamburg Port Authority and the Ministry of Culture and Media.
Behind the film is, among others, the US-American Elizabeth Cantillon, who, alongsideConspiracy also forCharlie's Angels acts as Executive Producer.
Maria Köpf adds: "Elizabeth Cantillon has been a big Hamburg fan since the filming of 'Conspiracy'. The German co-producer Studio Babelsberg has also long been aware of Hamburg's fantastic filming locations. Both were so enthusiastic about the filming locations and opportunities in the Hanseatic city that they brought the next Hollywood production directly to Hamburg in September: Elizabeth Banks' remake of the legendary Charlie's Angels."
About the film
Lisbeth Salander, the cult figure and title heroine of the acclaimed Millennium series created by Stieg Larsson, returns to the big screen in Conspiracy, the first film adaptation of David Lagercrantz's worldwide bestseller.
Golden Globe winner Claire Foy ("The Crown") plays the role of the clever hacker outsider. Directors Fede Alvarez, who brought the breakout thriller "Don't Breathe" to the big screen in 2016. The script adaptation is also by Alvarez, in collaboration with Jay Basu and Steven Knight.
Other roles include Sverrir Gudnason ("Borg McEnroe - Duel of Two Gladiators"), Sylvia Hoeks ("Blade Runner 2049"), Lakeith Stanfield ("Get Out"), Claes Bang ("The Square") and Vicky Krieps ("The Silk Thread"). Executive Producers are Ole Søndberg, Søren Stærmose, Berna Levin, Scott Rudin, Eli Bush, Amy Pascal and Elizabeth Cantillon. Arnon Milchan, Robert J. Dohrmann, David Fincher, Line Winther Skyum Funch, Johannes Jensen and Anni Faurbye Fernandez are responsible as Executive Producers.
