"Systemsprenger": Second film in the Berlinale competition
10.01.2019 | Berlinale 2019
This has never happened before: two Hamburg film teams are represented in the main competition of the Berlinale this year. After Fatih Akin with his horror film "Der Goldene Handschuh", Nora Fingscheidt is now also in the running for the Golden Bear with her directorial debut "Systemsprenger".
Maria KöpfCEO of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein (FFHSH), says: "Two films in the Berlinale competition! This is a small sensation and a great honour for our film location. Behind the drama "Systemsprenger" is a whole host of up-and-coming talent from Hamburg: Starting with Director and Script Writer Nora Fingscheidt to the young production companies Weydemann Bros. and Oma Inge Film. Our congratulations go to the entire team, including Peter Hartwig from kineo Filmproduktion and the stunning lead actress Helena Zengel."
More about the film: Loud, wild, unpredictable: Benni! The nine-year-old (played by Helena Zengel) drives her neighbours to despair. But she only wants one thing: to get back home! Nora Fingscheidt's directorial debut "Systemsprenger" is set in the environment of youth welfare offices, homes and foster families. The multi-award-winning script was honoured with the Emden Screenplay Award 2016, among others. With over 35 days of filming, most of the shooting took place in Hamburg in early 2018.
"Systemsprenger" is a production of kineo Filmproduktion and Weydemann Bros. GmbH in co-production with Oma Inge Film and ZDF/ Das kleine Fernsehspiel.
