Fancy cinema despite the pandemic? The "Eine Stadt sieht einen Film" event organised by Hamburg's arthouse and district cinemas will be held online for the first time on the weekend of 27 and 28 February. The Hamburg classic and milieu thriller "Supermarket" by Roland Klick will be available to stream free of charge on these two days - including a digital location tour and other programme highlights.

Helge AlbersCEO of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein: "With the online edition of 'Eine Stadt sieht einen Film', Hamburg's arthouse and neighbourhood cinemas are sending out a joint signal: Cinema is alive, despite the pandemic. A unique event in Germany, which this year boasts a real Hamburg insider tip with 'Supermarkt' by Roland Klick. We fully support this team spirit of Hamburg's cinema makers - as well as the cinema associations' call for a joint reopening date after Easter."

To the event

On the weekend of 27 and 28 February 2021, the film "Supermarket" by Roland Klick and the accompanying supporting programme will be available on the official websiteEine Stadt sieht einen Film.de and the websites of the 17 participating Hamburg cinemas.

Traditionally, the audience discussions with the film team and the filming location tour to the original locations are the centrepiece of the joint cinema event. This year, the tour with leading actor Charly Wierzejewski and the interviews with Directors Roland Klick and actress Eva Mattes will take place digitally. There will also be a film quiz, photo exhibitions and an accompanying film programme. Further information on the supporting programme can be found on the event website.

Since its launch with "Absolute Giganten" in 2016, the "Eine Stadt sieht einen Film" event has been a successful and possibly unique format for Hamburg's arthouse cinemas. This was followed by Lars Jessen's "Fraktus" in 2017, Wim Wenders' "Der amerikanische Freund" in 2018, Hark Bohm's "Nordsee ist Mordsee" in 2019 and Fatih Akin's debut film "Kurz und Schmerzlos" in 2020.
