MOIN - The first round is on us!
15.06.2021 | Big free ticket campaign for cinema reopening in the north
50 cinemas and free admission everywhere: in a unique campaign, the states of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein are jointly heralding the reopening of cinemas. Whether island cinema, arthouse gem or multiplex: on the first weekend in July, all participating cinemas are offering free tickets for one screening. And by the way, the Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein is presenting itself in a new guise - and is now called MOIN Film Fund.
With the nationwide cinema release on 1 July 2021, cinemas in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein are also opening their doors again. On the launch weekend, 34 cinemas in Schleswig-Holstein and 16 in Hamburg will be offering free screenings from Thursday to Sunday under the motto "MOIN - The first round is on us". The free tickets can be obtained in various ways: either directly at the cinema itself - or shortly via the radio station NDR 90.3, the NDR Hamburg Journal and NDR 1 Welle Nord. Among the films being shown as part of the #MOINKINO campaign are three highlights from the film funding programme: the comedy "Catweazle" with OTTO as a crazy magician, the animated adventure "Die Olchis - Willkommen in Schmuddelfing" and the acerbic political satire "Curveball - Wir machen die Wahrheit". All three films will also be released in cinemas across Germany over the course of the summer.
Helge AlbersCEO of MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein: "Throw up the popcorn, the cinemas are opening again! I am more than happy that the cinemas in the north are allowed to reopen after the difficult months of lockdown. With the #MOINKINO campaign, we would like to say thank you: for holding out during the crisis and for supporting the cinemas. From now on, it's time to get off the couch and head to your favourite cinema around the corner!"
Dr Carsten BrosdaSenator for Culture and Media of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg: "The motto from 1 July is 'Into the cinema'. The cinemas in the north are eagerly awaiting the return of their audiences with first-class films. With this campaign, we want to turn the relaunch of the cinema as a cultural venue into a celebration and invite the people of Hamburg to go to the cinema for the first time after the long period of empty screens. After all, what could be better than being intoxicated by images on the big screen together - whether outdoors or in the cinema?"
Karin PrienMinister for Education, Science and Culture of Schleswig-Holstein: "Individual cinemas have already been cultural model projects or have made use of the opening option in the state ordinance these days. But now the big day is approaching: the nationwide cinema opening on 1 July. The general conditions are in favour - the current low incidence figures make this step possible. Cinema audiences are eagerly awaiting this moment. I am all the more grateful to the cinema operators in the country that they have persevered and are now in a good position. The federal and state subsidies have played a large part in this."
Otto Waalkes, lead actor and co-executive producer of "Catweazle": "Salmei Dalmei Adomei - CATWEAZLE conjures up open cinemas! The time has finally come: the cinema is open again! And who better to bring magic back to the big screen than a magician like CATWEAZLE? I'm really pleased that young and old can finally laugh and dream together again - at the cinema!"
Sunna IsenbergWunderWerk, Executive Producer of "Die Olchis": "We are over the moon that the cinemas are now open! DIE OLCHIS - WILLKOMMEN IN SCHMUDDELFING is about friendship, solidarity and sustainability and is perfect brightly coloured summer fun for the whole family."

MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein becomes MOIN Film Fund
The reopening of the cinemas is not the only cinematic news at the start of the summer: from now on, MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein will operate under the name MOIN Film Fund and integrate its mission centrally into the brand name with the claim "Moving Images North". CEO Helge Albers explains: "With our new appearance, we are clearly emphasising our mission. We want to be the best possible partner for the moving image industry in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein and bring the best films and series to the north. All the better if this mission can be summed up briefly and concisely in the North Germans' favourite word: MOIN!"
More information can be found in the Moinifest of the film promotion organisation. The new brand identity was created in co-operation with the Hamburg agency Hansen/2 Design + Direction and the brand consultant Ingmar Bartels.
