The Venice International Film Festival begins on 31 August and a large part of the programme has now been announced. Included: the drama "Victim" with Hamburg leading actress Vita Smachelyuk in the Orizzonti competition section and the film "Aus meiner Haut" with Jonas Dassler and Mala Emde, which was shot entirely in Schleswig-Holstein and will be shown in the "International Film Critics' Week".

'Out of My Skin' by Alex Schaad is a genuine Schleswig-Holstein project - the film was shot entirely in the north of the country. And the drama 'Victim' by Directors Michal Blaško is a strong European co-production, in which the Hamburg leading actress Vita Smachelyuk is more than convincing. We are keeping our fingers crossed for both films!"

Victim In his drama "Victim", Slovakian Director Michal Blaško takes the audience to a small Czech town. Irina, a Ukrainian single mum, lives here with her son Igor and wants to build a new life for herself. When her son is apparently seriously injured one day by a group of Roma, this sets off a maelstrom of events in the town that Irina is soon no longer able to control. Lead actress Vita Smachelyuk lives in Hamburg, and a large part of post production also took place in the Hanseatic city. The German co-producer is the Berlin-based company Electric Sheep. The script was written by Jakub Medvecky and Tomas Hruby.
Out of my skin Directors Alex Schaad will be showing his feature film debut "Aus meiner Haut" in competition at the "settimana internazionale della critica" in Venice. The film about body swapping was shot entirely in Schleswig-Holstein at Gut Wahlstorf near Preetz. The prominent cast includes Jonas Dassler (Der Goldene Handschuh), Mala Emde (Und morgen die ganze Welt), Maryam Zarée (4 Blocks) and Dimitrij Schaad (Die Känguru-Chroniken). The script was co-written by brothers Alex and Dimitrij Schaad. Aus meiner Haut" was produced by Walker+Worm Film in co-production with Donndorffilm, Arte and BR. At the centre of the film are Leyla and Tristan, a seemingly happy couple. When they travel to a mysterious island, a game of identities begins that changes everything - their perception, their sexuality, their entire "self". But it's not just their relationship that threatens to fall apart...
