Helge AlbersCEO of MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein: "There is no better way to start your career! Our congratulations go to the four HMS graduates Tamara Denić, David Marius Lorenz, Christian Siée, André Stahlmann and the entire Hamburg Media School team. 'ISTINA (Truth)' is a politically highly topical film that has now been more than deservedly honoured. HMS graduate İlker Çatak, who won five German film awards this year with "The Teachers' Lounge" and also took home a student Oscar in 2015 with his graduation film 'Sadakat', shows just where a Student Academy Award can lead."
About the film Behind the film "ISTINA (Wahrheit)" are the four HMS graduates David Marius Lorenz (Script), Christian Siée (Production), Tamara Denić (Directors) and André Stahlmann (Visual Design). The team came out on top from over 2,400 submissions and was among the finalists along with seven other teams. In "ISTINA (Truth)", a photojournalist is threatened by right-wing extremist groups in her Serbian homeland and flees to Germany with her daughter. But after a short time, she finds herself exposed to strong hostility here too. The HMS team shot the film over three days in Belgrade and ten days in Germany in August and September 2022. The graduation film has already won the Audience Award at the Max Ophüls Prize and was also one of the final three films at the BAFTA Awards in Los Angeles.
The HMS graduation film "Those who follow" also made it to the final of the Student Academy Awards, but did not make it into the top three films.
