The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival will take place this year from 8 to 24 November. What makes it special: There will be a special focus on German productions at both the festival and the Industry Part in 2024 - because Germany is Focus Country! We take a closer look at the Industry Part for you.
Producers and directors can submit their projects for ‘Work in Progress’ in three different categories until 16 September 2024: Children's and Youth Film (Just Film) Works in Progress projects, Baltic Event Works in Progress (Baltic and Finnish projects) and International Works in Progress projects. Entries are accepted for feature, animation or live-action animation films that will be in production or post-production at the time of the event. The ‘Just Film’ category also includes feature-length animated and documentary films aimed at children aged 7 to 13 and young people aged 14 and over. The projects will be presented in Tallinn from 21 to 22 November. More information on the call for entries can be found here.
Aspiring producers can also apply for the ‘Breaking Into the Industry: Mentorship Programme for Aspiring Producers’ until 23 September. The programme will be led by film producer Katriel Schory, who will support participants in creating project presentations, cultivating relationships between producers and directors and developing film projects and personal career and business strategies. The programme takes place from 17 to 22 November in Tallinn. More information can be found here.
Until 14 August, young talents could also apply for the Script Pool as part of the festival. A total of five film projects with international potential, high distribution value and secured financing are being sought for the script competition, which will be presented to international sales agents, financiers and co-producers. The Script Pool will take place from 19 to 23 November and consists of a preparation phase, which will take place both online and on site, as well as a pitch competition and industry meetings during the stay in Tallinn. Participation fees are waived for selected projects from the Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein funding region. Click here for the application form and further participation information.
The Co-Production Market will take place this year from 20 to 22 November. On 18 and 19 November, the Drama Series Co-Financing Market will also take place. Here, series projects with international sales and distribution potential will be presented.
