GetOnSet" film trainee programme is committed to more equal opportunities

Cross-entry into the film industry made easy
In 2025, GetOnSet will once again offer twelve career changers the opportunity to prepare specifically for careers in areas such as unit manager, sound or camera. The programme is aimed at anyone who wants to reorient themselves professionally and gain a structured introduction to the industry. Interested parties aged 25 and over can apply now.

GetOnSet has proven to be a successful model because it not only makes it easier to get started, but also promotes the long-term development of participants. This strengthens Hamburg as a film and media location."

Social Affairs Senator Melanie Schlotzhauer: "Since 2022, the GetOnSet trainee programme has been offering interested Hamburg residents the chance to reorient themselves in the changing world of work. They can learn about new career prospects and gain a permanent foothold in one of the attractive professions in the film industry. At the same time, the programme supports the film industry in preparing career changers for professions related to film and series production. GetOnSet thus makes an important contribution to securing skilled labour in this area."

Practice and theory for a successful start
During the ten-month programme, participants gain practical experience in Hamburg production companies, film technology distributors or post-production studios. In addition, they attend seminars at Hamburg Media School to learn the theoretical basics of relevant topics such as "script", "film law" and "calculation".

Stefanie Bilen, Head of Continuing Education at Hamburg Media School, explains: "Many people dream of a job in the film industry, but don't know how to get started. GetOnSet offers exactly this opportunity - a structured, practical programme that promotes talent regardless of their previous career and prepares them for everyday working life."
