On Tuesday evening, the MOIN Film Fund celebrated its annual industry get-together "MOIN Midsummer" at Kampnagel in Hamburg with around 1,000 guests. Among those on the red carpet were the team from Fatih Akin's Cannes film "Amrum", Oscar nominee İlker Çatak, actors Bjarne Mädel, Pheline Roggan and Director Sönke Wortmann, who has just shot his film "Die Ältern" in the Hanseatic city.

Dr Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media: "With the MOIN Midsummer Festival, we are celebrating the power of film. Films constantly tell us new stories and help us to understand this world that has gone off the rails a little better. But we also celebrate the vibrant, diverse and successful film industry in the North, which shows time and again that a lot is possible when you have a common goal. Film is culture, but film is also business. The excellent work of MOIN and the filmmakers in the region shows how cultural funding can develop creative freedom and economic dynamism at the same time. To ensure that this remains the case and that the film location can continue to develop, we are investing in talent, in material, in structures and in the future of film in the north by increasing the funding budget by ten million euros."

Helge Albers, CEO MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein: "Summer festivals are the perfect occasion to take stock: in 2024, we were able to generate over 30 million euros in income for the film location Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein from 10 million euros in funding. And we started 2025 with a bang: More funding, an Oscar nomination and three films in Cannes - the first half of the year is something to be proud of. I'm already looking forward to the second half of the year, when we can expect cinema highlights such as Fatih Akin's 'Amrum' or the Berlinale competition film 'Yunan' by Ameer Fakher Eldin and the Filmfest Hamburg will bring the latest films and the German industry to the city."

Last year, every euro of funding invested generated an average of 3.15 euros for Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein. From just under 10 million euros in funding, over 30 million euros flowed into the funding region. And for the years 2025 and 2026, the funding budget has been increased by a total of 10 million euros - a real boost for the film north.

The following MOIN-funded film teams were among the guests
:

  • The team of Fatih Akin's acclaimed Cannes film Amrum, for which Hamburg filmmaker Hark Bohm wrote the script. At MOIN Midsummer, leading actors Jasper Billerbeck, Detlev Buck, Lisa Hagmeister and Lars Jessen were among the cast on the red carpet. Cinema release: 9 October 2025

  • Just shot for The Elders in Hamburg - now already at the MOIN party. Producer Nurhan Şekerci-Porst brought along Director Sönke Wortmann ("Der Vorname", "Das Wunder von Bern").

  • Even though the feature film Hausaufgaben is still in development, lead actor Bjarne Mädel and Hamburg Executive Producer Verena Gräfe-Höft paid a visit to the MOIN carpet.

  • Directors Lena Fakler and Zarah Schrade shot the feature film Hygge in the funding region last year. Now they were guests at Kampnagel with the cast (including Catrin Striebeck and Pheline Roggan) and Executive Producer Linus Günther.

  • The team behind the Berlinale film Yunan by Ameer Fakher Eldin, produced by Dorothe Beinemeier, was also on site. Cinema release: 13 November 2025

Other guests included Filip Schnack ("In die Sonne Schauen"), Jonas Nay (Deutschland 89), David Schütter ("Barbaren") and Johannes Hegemann ("In Liebe, eure Hilde").

MOIN Midsummer: Trailer and sponsors

For the tenth time, the MOIN Film Fund celebrated at Kampnagel. A special highlight for the guests was the catering by Peacetanbul. The Letterbox Bar with its signature drink, the Always Cinema Lounge by Weischer and the table football area by Pyjama Pictures also ensured a good atmosphere. The trailer, realised and sponsored by The Post Republic, shows film clips from numerous productions that were shot in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein last year  . Beverage sponsors were Rindchen's Weinkontor and fritz-kola. NDR was also involved for the first time this year.
