"Filmtage Köln" moves to Hamburg in 2026

17.07.2025 | Cinema industry event

From 2026, the previous "Filmtage Köln" will take place in Hamburg for the first time, where it will be further developed into a joint, integrated industry event in a new form and under a new name with the HDF's KINO film theatre congress, which will also come to Hamburg from 2026. Hamburg is thus continuing to grow as a film and media location.

In addition to the recently significantly expanded Industry Days at Filmfest Hamburg, the Hanseatic city welcomes the German-speaking industry to another central event in the north.

The Film Days are organised by Großes Kino Merchandise & Event GmbH in partnership with AllScreens Verband Filmverleih und Audiovisuelle Medien e.V.. The event is a central meeting point for the cinema and distribution industry and attracts over 1,000 visitors every year. The core programme includes a preview of the upcoming cinema season, where distribution companies present the film highlights of the coming months with exclusive film previews and events.

The area around the Cinemaxx Dammtor and the Congress Centre Hamburg (CCH) was chosen as the new venue for the Film Days. In the immediate vicinity here the location of the cinema and the 1000-seat premiere hall are combined with the modern trade fair location and form an integrated campus location with all the advantages. With excellent hotel and transport infrastructure, the location thus offers ideal conditions for bringing together all the components of the previous individual events from Cologne and Baden-Baden in one place in the future - compact, efficient and networked. The first edition of the new format is planned for the week of 6 July 2026.

Dr. Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media: "The relocation of the Film Days and the merger with the KINO film theatre congress will open a new chapter for film and the cinema industry in Hamburg. This cooperation will strengthen the cinema as a cultural location in the long term by combining forces. With its infrastructure and strong film and media industry, Hamburg offers the best conditions for developing these established formats into a forward-looking industry event. We look forward to welcoming the national and international cinema and distribution industry to Hamburg in summer 2026."

Helge Albers, CEO of MOIN Film Fund: "The fact that cinemas and distributors will be organising a joint trade fair and conference hand in hand in the future is an extremely important signal for the entire industry. I am delighted that we can offer the right environment for this in Hamburg and would like to thank everyone involved for their trust."

"With the move to Hamburg and the strategic cooperation between AllScreens, the HDF and GROSSES KINO Merchandise & Event GmbH, we are opening a new chapter for the industry," said the organisers of GROSSES KINO Merchandise & Event GmbH and the CEO of AllScreens. "We are creating a central meeting point for cinema, film distribution, technology, agencies, service providers, marketing and visions - all under one roof."

Further details on the realignment and the 2026 programme will follow in the coming months.
