MOIN Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein

Authors with Nordic-German stories wanted

08.10.2025 | Nordic NEST

After the successful kick-off at the Hamburg Film Festival, it's now time to get down to business: MOIN Film Fund, the Five Nordics and the German Federal Film Board (FFA) are looking for ten established writers from Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland for Nordic NEST.

The goal: to work together on their feature film and TV drama series ideas at the Nordic NEST Space on the German Baltic Sea coast – and then present them at the Göteborg Film Festival as part of a project showcase and matchmaking event. The best projects will receive up to €80,000 in development funding in the end.

Applications are now open until 30 October 2025.

The five-day Nordic NEST Space will take place from 12 to 16 January 2026 on the Baltic Sea coast in Schleswig-Holstein. At the 2026 Göteborg Film Festival (23 January – 1 February 2026), the selected writers will then meet with 20 producers from Germany and the Nordic countries between 25 – 30 January.

Who can apply?

Writers from Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland who

  • have at least two commercially released feature film projects or series (episodes) in their portfolio.

  • apply with an early idea (not a finished script) to Nordic NEST Space. The programme is dedicated to live-action feature film and series, therefore not open to animation, documentary or XR format.

  • are available from 12 – 16 January (Nordic NEST Space) and 25 – 30 January (Göteborg Film Festival). During Göteborg Film Festival there will be two days dedicated to Nordic NEST. The exact two days are yet to be specified.

Five writers from Germany and five writers from the Nordic countries will be selected for Nordic NEST Space.

What happens at NEST Space?

The working week is led by Le Groupe Ouest, one of Europe's most innovative screenwriting development initiatives. Developed by MOIN Film Fund, the NEST programme has already proven itself in Germany and is now for the first time adapted to support the co-development of international fiction projects. The focus of the work will be on co-creating new perspectives and getting the most out of the participants' ideas and stories. No masterclasses, no judgement, no particular outcome expected.

What happens in Göteborg?

At the 2026 Göteborg Film Festival, the ten writers will meet 20 selected high profile producers from Germany and the Nordic countries and present their project ideas from NEST Space at a matching event. Please note: Only producers who attended the Nordic NEST kick-off in Hamburg can apply for one of these places. A separate call for applications is currently open for this.

What happens to the selected projects?

For each project idea that brings together a German and a Nordic production company at the end of the matchmaking event, MOIN Filmförderung automatically provides treatment funding of up to €20,000. After an initial writing phase, three of the projects will be selected to receive additional script funding of up to €60,000 each. The circle will be completed at the 2026 Hamburg Film Festival, when the developed projects will be presented to the international market.

What is covered?

  • Nordic NEST Space: travel expenses, accommodation and meals for all participants

  • Göteborg Film Festival: travel expenses and meals during the networking events. Accommodation only for the two days during which the Nordic NEST events take place.

How can you apply?

Via the Nordic NEST application portal. In addition to your CV/track record, we need a maximum three-minute “tell-me video” from you as well as further information about your project idea. All information must be in English.
