German FIlms and Göteborg Film Festival have announced that Germany is the official focus country of the upcoming Nordic Film Market and TV Drama Vision. The Market and Drama Vision are part of the Gothenburg Film Festival Industry. This focus will bring a diverse selection of German Executive Producers, funds and key decision makers to Gothenburg to forge new connections and deepen co-operation between the audiovisual institutions of the Nordic countries and Germany.

The German focus was developed in co-operation with the Gothenburg Film Festival, German Films and leading funds in Germany, including:

  • Filmförderungsanstalt FFA - German Federal Film Board

  • FilmFernsehFonds Bayern (FFF Bayern)

  • Film- und Medienstiftung NRW

  • Hessen Film & Media

  • Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg

  • Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM)

  • MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein

  • nordmedia - Film- und Mediengesellschaft Niedersachsen/Bremen

Together, these partners will showcase the range of German talent and funding opportunities while creating new opportunities for co-productions and collaborations between the regions. As part of the focus, a large German delegation will travel to Gothenburg, with Executive Producers, funds, projects and talents taking centre stage throughout the programme.

Simone Baumann, CEO of German Films, on the German focus in Gothenburg:
"We are very pleased to be working with the Gothenburg Film Festival on this German focus. It is a fantastic opportunity to present German filmmakers and Executive Producers with their projects and at the same time strengthen our long-standing relationships with the Nordic industry."

Josef Kullengård, Head of Industry at Göteborg Film Festival, adds:
"The focus on Germany is a logical step in our endeavour to promote international cooperation. Germany's strong creative industries and funding structures make it an ideal partner and we look forward to opening new doors between Nordic and German producers, funds and talent."

The Gothenburg Film Festival is the leading film festival in Scandinavia and is one of the festivals with the highest attendance figures in the world. As the region's most important industry meeting place, the festival attracts more than 2,400 accredited delegates from over 50 countries. Nordic Film Market (28-30 January 2026) showcases outstanding new Scandinavian films and talent and offers top-class business-to-business opportunities and networking. TV Drama Vision (27-28 January 2026), dedicated to drama series, brings together international business trends, creative talent and key professionals.

The 49th Gothenburg Film Festival will take place from 23 January to 1 February 2026.
