EFM Toolbox Programme 2026 for underrepresented groups

MOIN Film Fund and the European Film Market Toolbox Programme are delighted to announce the renewal of their partnership! Apply to attend the EFM Toolbox Programme and the European Film Market in Berlin from February 12-18, 2026!

If you

  • are entry to mid-level producer for fiction or documentary feature film

  • are working on one or several film projects at various stages

  • belong to one or more marginalized groups (i.e., you are Black, Indigenous, a Person of Colour and/or belong to an ethnic, religious, socio-cultural minority, and/or you identify as LGBTQIA+ and/or queer, or you are a woman, gender non-conforming or non-binary and/or are a person with a disability),

  • lack knowledge, tools and connections on the international business of film,

then how about applying for the Toolbox Programme and participating in the 2026 European Film Market (Berlinale)?

What is the Toolbox Programme?

The Toolbox Programme is an initiative from the EFM’s Diversity & Inclusion initiative. Aimed at entry to emerging fiction or documentary feature film producers, the Toolbox Programme is designed specifically to endow creatives from marginalized and underrepresented groups with business tools and connections. Comprising access to networking and matchmaking events and additional business modules (tailor-made workshops as well as one-on-one meetings and consultations), the programme provides a kit of transferable business know-how and connections under the guidance of a consultant and coordinators.

In the preparatory phase, from November 2025: 1-on-1 mentor sessions that will encompass 8-10 hours over the course of the programme.

Early December to mid-January: compulsory online workshops for participants with experienced tutors developed from the needs of the group. Example workshops are market preparation, international co-production, pitching tools, sales and distribution, legal basics, audience design, marketing & PR, such as festival strategy.

During the EFM (Feb 12- 18, 2026): connecting with industry experts, meet the co-production market, community building sessions, a wide variety of panels and workshops from across the EFM's schedule.

Who can apply?

Entry to mid-level regional producers based in Hamburg or Schleswig-Holstein from marginalized groups who are working on one or several film projects at various stages and who are free to participate in online workshops between 8 and 12 December 2025 and 12 to 16 January 2026 and travel to Berlin from 12 to 18 February 2026.

Selection will be based on who is at the right stage of their career to benefit from attending the Toolbox Programme.

MOIN Film Fund will cover the following costs for the selected producer:

  • Market Badge to participate in the European Film Market

  • Participation fee for the Toolbox Programme

  • Travel (2nd class train ticket) and accommodation costs to/in Berlin during the EFM (Feb 12-18, 2026)

How to apply?

Please send the following material in English to Katharina Paul, paul@moin-filmfoerderung.de:

  • CV and track record (max 1 page) of the producer

  • EITHER a video pitch with a maximum of 3 minutes (vimeo link) OR a letter focusing on your motivation outlining how you would benefit from the programme

The deadline for the application is sunday, 2 November, 23.59 p.m. CET.

Please keep in mind that the working language of all workshops, meetings and events is English; thus, a good knowledge of English is essential to participate.
