From Miniatur Wunderland to the Nordlichter: major Hamburg shoots promoted

The MOIN committees are funding a total of 31 projects with 3.1 million euros in their latest funding round. The highest sum went to the family adventure "Miniatur Wunderland" - with 1.1 million euros in funding and 23 days of filming in the region.

Directors Félix Koch is bringing a Hamburg tourist magnet to the big screen: in Miniatur Wunderland (€1.1 million, Letterbox Filmproduktion, Hamburg), ten-year-old Matteo magically shrinks and finds himself and his patchwork family in the middle of Hamburg's Miniatur Wunderland. There will be around 23 days of filming in the Hanseatic city from June 2026. The script was written by Dirk Ahner and Alexander Rümelin.

In her drama Große Mutter (377,247 euros, MÄKSMY Films, Hamburg), Hamburg Media School graduate Caren Wuhrer focuses on the outskirts of Hamburg: this is where Lord (17), without prospects and full of anger, and Betty (78), tired of life and ready to give up, collide. Most of the film was shot in Hamburg and was funded by NDR, MOIN Film Fund and nordmedia as part of the Nordlichter programme for young filmmakers.

In Als Bestie bin ich aufgewacht (300,000 euros, Leitwolf Filmproduktion, Hamburg), 15-year-old Margo moves in with her estranged father after the death of her mother - and gets caught up in the world of illegal dog fighting. Directors and Script Writer Sandra Schröder's feature film debut will have 14 shooting days in Hamburg and ten shooting days in Schleswig-Holstein. Shooting start: summer 2026.

The biopic Sind so kleine Hände (200,000 euros, Wüste Film, Hamburg) by Director Anne Zohra Berrached focuses on the East Berlin poet and singer-songwriter Bettina Wegner. The recently deceased Hamburg actress Wanda Perdelwitz initiated the project, wrote the script together with Martin Behnke and played a key role in shaping the content of the film project. She was also to play Bettina Wegner herself and bring her music to the screen.
