Are you a director and Script Writer from Hamburg or Schleswig-Holstein who has already made at least one short film? Are you currently working on a new fictional short film and would like to get the most out of your project with the help of bespoke expert coaching? Then apply by 12 November 2026 for a place at Directors Village 2027!

Entry requirements

Talented directors who are working as a Script Writer on a new fictional short film and have already completed a short film project are eligible to apply.

Only one project may be submitted per applicant. The programme will be conducted in English.

MOIN will cover the costs of participation in the programme, including accommodation, meals and networking events, for the selected participants. Travel expenses may be reimbursed up to a maximum of €150.

Programme

The Directors Village will take place from 12 to 18 January 2027 in Maastricht, the Netherlands. Twelve filmmakers from various European countries will be selected for this international residency.

Contents of the five-day programme:

  • Working on scripts in small groups

  • Reflecting on one’s own directing work and artistic approach

  • Practical work with actors and actresses

  • Individual project discussions

  • Exchange with international filmmakers

  • Networking

The 2027 coaches are:

  • Sofia Norlin (Sweden)

  • Martin Strange-Hansen (Denmark)

  • Janneke van Heesch (Netherlands)

Application

Applications may only be submitted online via the application form. A PDF document (max. 25 pages, 5 MB) is required, containing the following documents:

  • Project information (tagline, logline, synopsis, genre, running time, max. 1 page)

  • Motivation (max. 1 page)

  • Director’s vision (max. 1 page)

  • Short biographies of key cast and crew members (approx. 1 page)

  • Mood board and/or supplementary materials (approx. 1 page).

  • Links to previous work (recommended)

  • Script (max. 20 pages)

Applications may be submitted in German or English. If an application is successful, all project documentation must be submitted in English at a later date.

Each applicant may submit only one short film project . The script must not exceed 20 pages.

Closing date for applications: Thursday 12 November 2026

Announcement of the selection: Tuesday 1 December 2026
