MARKK Museum am Rothenbaum – Kulturen und Künste der Welt
Rothenbaumchaussee 64 - 20148 HamburgThe ethnological museum, built between 1907 and 1911 and extended in 1929, has an asymmetrical layout. It consists of grand halls with pillars and reinforced concrete ceilings and has excellent bright spaces like those of a shipping company´s office. The pompous facade and the marble entrance hall stand for the wealth of foreign countries exploited by Hamburg. Foreign cultures and traditions are exhibited in the museum.
