Katharina Pethke

Ich bin Regisseurin und brenne ich für den künstlerischen Dokumentarfilm. Deshalb erforsche und lehre ich ihn auch: 2012-2019 war ich Professorin an der HFBK Hamburg und 2024 habe ich einen PhD an der Filmuni Babelsberg zum Thema Porträtfilm abgeschlossen. Meine Filme werden international gezeigt (u.a. IDFA, CPH:DOX, Berlinale) und ausgezeichnet (u.a. Goethe Dokumentarfilmpreis, Goldene Taube DOK Leipzig, Lola beim Deutschen Kurzfilmpreis).

Projekt: Seetangströme / Currents of Kelp

While the world is going up in flames, there are a handful of people who believe that algae are the future. The film dives under the surface of the water and occasionally resurfaces, observing various people at work from the perspective of the algae.
