Melanie Blocksdorf
Melanie ist Filmproduzentin für fiktionalen und dokumentarische Stoffe. Seit 2015 betreut und produziert sie deutsche und internationale Kinoprojekte von der Stoff-Entwicklung bis zur Auswertung und schätzt dabei besonders die gemeinschaftliche Zusammenarbeit mit Kolleg:innen, Teams und Cast über die deutschen Grenzen hinaus. Sie ist Alumna der ifs Köln, Mitglied der European Film Academy und WIFT.
The documentary THE GIRLS OF KIBERA follows two young best friends ( Jennifer and Mercy ) attending their last year at the Kibera Girls Soccer Academy, in Kibera—one of the world’s largest slums in Kenya—where soccer opens doors to education and hope. The film challenges stereotypes by revealing a vibrant community defined not only by poverty but by resilience, dreams, and the transformative power of friendship.
