Beti and Amare is a contender for awards in the categories Best Feature Film Debut (Andy Siege) and Best Music (Levin Kaercher, Alula Araya). In the categories Best Editing (Bettina Blickwede) and Best Documentary (Ulrike Ottinger)Chamisso's shadow chances of winning the Critics' Award.
Chick is in the running for Best Actor (Anand Batbileg/Tristan Göbel) and Best Script (Lars Hubrich). For Best DocumentaryParchim International (Stefan Eberlein, Manuel Fenn) and Best Experimental FilmGeneral average by Philip Scheffner for the election.
TheAssociation of German Film Critics will award the prizes as part of theBerlinale on Monday, 13 February 2017, in the presence of the nominees. The prize is awarded to German films that were shown in cinemas in the previous calendar year.
The German Film Critics' Award is the only German film prize that is awarded exclusively by critics. It is not based on economic, regional or political criteria, but solely on artistic criteria.
