Treatment funding

As part of the newTreatment promotion For full-length feature films, two Hamburg projects were each awarded a grant of 5,100 euros. The funding decision was made by FFHSH CEO Maria Köpf.

"We are very happy with the quality of the material submitted and are looking forward to two promising treatments," says Maria Köpf, CEO of FFHSH. "As we had hoped, the submissions included many team projects between co-authors, two of which we would like to continue to support." Behind the North German material is a male and a female team, both from Hamburg.

Monika Fäßler and Charlotte Rolfes are working withUnder Pressure A tragicomedy with surprising twists and turns, at the centre of which is the ambitious Hamburg civil engineer Johanna. On the verge of launching her international career, she is thwarted by her family - a bunch of selfish lone wolves - whose everyday worries present Johanna with challenges. A modern family story whose strong female protagonist learns to stand by her weaknesses without having to sacrifice her ambitions.

In the crook comedySanta Pauli Volker Schmitt and Samuel Schultschik tell the story of the tricky comeback of Hans, a small-time crook who has fallen out of time. Against his will, he has to team up with a couple of con artists to find the hidden loot from his only successful robbery. Hans wants to prove to the love of his life that he didn't cheat on her after their big score twenty years ago. This turbulent story is a loving homage to the local subculture of old St Pauli and to the bizarre characters who have shaped this unique neighbourhood cosmos and its rough charm.

In addition to financial support in the form of a grant, funding recipients also receive an initial dramaturgical consultation at the start of the programme and a proofreading of the treatment. Since the beginning of the year, Script Writers have been able to receive funding for the development of a treatment for a feature film in German or English. The new funding programme is intended to provide Script Writers with early and effective support in developing their ideas and to give them creative and financial freedom.
