
Newcomer film in the Oscar race

After Hamburg Media School graduate Katja Benrath took home the Golden Student Oscar for her short film Watu Wote back in October, the HMS team can now raise their hopes for a "big" Oscar next year.

The final film has made it onto the list of the ten final candidates for the "Live Action Short Film" category. The films for the final round will now be selected from this list.
Watu Wote tells a true story from Kenya: for decades, the country has been shaken by terrorist attacks by the Islamic organisation Al-Shabaab. Fear and mistrust grow between Christians and Muslims. Until December 2015, when the passengers of a coach manage to give an unprecedented testimony of humanity.
In recent months, the HMS team has already won numerous other prestigious awards, including the Golden Student Oscar, the Studio Hamburg Young Talent Award and two First Steps Awards.
