Hamburg Producer Award to be extended

The Hamburg Producer Award, which has been in existence since 2014, recognises the special achievements of German Executive Producers and film and television production companies. The prize, with a total endowment of 50,000 euros to date, has been awarded in the two Filmfest Hamburg competition categories "European Cinema Co-Production" and "German Television Production". In 2018, these two categories will be supplemented by the third competition category "German Cinema Production" for the first time. The prize money for the new category, also totalling 25,000 euros, is financed by the Ministry of Culture and Media.

As part of the Hamburg Producer Award, we also want to strengthen outstanding German cinema productions in future by honouring their creative producers with a separate individual award, also endowed with 25,000 euros. With a total of 75,000 euros, the Hamburg Producers' Award will in future send out a signal for the special achievements of German cinema and television producers in three categories."
