The film north as a guest in Kaliningrad
16.10.2019 | 9th Territory Film Forum
Northern Germany goes Kaliningrad: the non-commercial forum "Territorium Film" opens its doors for the ninth time on Thursday in the cultural centre of the Russian enclave on the Baltic Sea. Filmwerkstatt Kiel is once again represented with several films at the documentary festival.
This year, ten feature-length films and various short films by German and Russian filmmakers will be shown at the Territorium Film Forum, with the programme rounded off by workshops, round tables and film discussions with the filmmakers following the screenings. This year's guest is Filmbüro Bremen, and Kiel University of Applied Sciences is also cooperating with Kant University on a short documentary film project with students.
Arne Sommer, Director of Filmwerkstatt Kiel: "The Territorium Film Festival in Kaliningrad is international understanding in action: German and Russian documentary filmmakers really get into dialogue with each other and with the audience here. The discussion rounds following the screenings in particular are incredibly well received. With 'Beauty and Transience' by Annekatrin Hendel and 'The Donkey's Name was Geronimo' by Bigna Tomschin and Arjun Talwar, we have two subsidised films in our programme that have already screened very successfully at other festivals. And the renowned documentary filmmaker Volker Koepp will also be presenting his film 'Seestück' about the Baltic Sea in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut."
All films funded by the FFHSH/Filmwerkstatt Kiel:
Bauhaus Spirit (film tank) Directors/Script: Nils Bolbrinker, Thomas Tielsch
Beauty and transience (It Works! Media) Directors/Script: Annekatrin Hendel
The donkey's name was Geronimo (Lo-Fi Films) Directors/Script: Arjun Talwar, Bigna Tomschin
Small Directors/Script: Sören Wendt
More about the festival: From 17 to 20 October 2019, the "Territorium Film Forum" will take place in Kaliningrad under the direction of Elena Gromova.
