3.7 million euros for the film industry in the north

The measures at a glance

Aid packages for cinemas:

• In Hamburg hat der Senat das Kinosoforthilfeprogramm „Kino Hilfe Hamburg"in Höhe von 550.000 Euro neu ins Leben gerufen. Die Mittel werden aus dem „Hilfspaket Kultur" bereitgestellt, mit dem die Behörde für Kultur und Medien kulturelle Einrichtungen auf der Grundlage bereits existierender Förderinstrumente unterstützt. Das Programm dient der Existenzsicherung von Hamburger Kinos und Abspielstätten, die in den letzten drei Jahren mit dem Hamburger Kinopreis ausgezeichnet wurden sowie kulturell herausragenden stadtteilbezogenen Filmtheatern und besonderen filmbezogenen Initiativen, die durch die zeitweilige Schließung in eine besondere Notsituation geraten sind. Die Förderhöchstsumme beträgt 50.000 Euro pro Filmtheater. Zuwendungsfähig sind u.a. laufende Betriebskosten und nachweisbare Ausfallkosten. Die Vergabe erfolgt über die FFHSH.

• In Schleswig-Holstein wird der Kinoprogrammpreis 2020 auf 150.000 Euro aufgestockt und ab sofort und als einmaliger Zuschuss an die entsprechenden Kinos ausgezahlt.

Special programme "3x3" - three scripts in three years:

• Mit dem neuen und einmaligen Projektförderinstrument "3x3" sollen die Kreativen und Produzentinnen und Produzenten im Rahmen der Incentive-Förderung am Standort kurzfristig in die Lage versetzt werden, langfristig neue Filmprojekte zu entwickeln und auf diesem Weg ihre Marktchancen wieder zu verbessern– "3x3" steht dabei für drei Drehbücher innerhalb von drei Jahren.

• Die Länder Hamburg und Schleswig-Holstein nehmen für diese Maßnahme 1,95 Millionen Euro in die Hand. Mit diesen Mitteln können in den kommenden drei Jahren rund 40 neue Projekte im Film-Norden entwickelt werden.

• Eine 3x3-Förderung in Höhe von 150.000 Euro kann beantragt werden, wenn:

- Script Writer and/or Directors

- Executive Producer with headquarters and

- an essential part of the plot

are located or based in the funding region.

Aid programme of the federal and state sponsors:

• Der bundesweite Rettungsschirm ist zunächst auf 15 Mio. Euro angelegt. Die FFHSH hat für diese Maßnahmen insgesamt 1 Mio. Euro reserviert.

• Das Hilfsprogramm gilt für Produktionen, die bis zum 18.03.2020 eine Förderzusage erhalten haben und bis Ende Juni mit dem Dreh beginnen wollten.

• Auch für Kinostarts, die in diesem Zeitraum geplant waren oder bereits begonnen hatten, können anteilig die Mehrkosten übernommen werden.

In order to support filmmakers in Hamburg as a media location in these difficult times and to effectively limit the economic consequences, we have jointly launched an aid programme to provide financial assistance quickly, unbureaucratically and immediately. In this way, we want to lay the foundations for the film industry in the north, which has been so successful in recent years, to build on its current successes as much as possible. We are also particularly keen to support cinema operators whose existence is under threat, so that cineastes and film lovers can continue to enjoy what they have lived and loved in the past: the communal film experience in the cinema."

Film as the contemporary medium reflects the drama of these times in a special way - right up to the unwanted standstill. This is a counterfactual situation for the dynamic moving image. Fast and targeted help is therefore what filmmakers and the cinema industry urgently need and will receive here in targeted funding phases."
