The "3x3" coronavirus aid fund has been exhausted: 13 production companies from the north of Germany will receive an injection of 150,000 euros to develop around 40 scripts with their teams of writers over the next three years. Among others, the mystery professionals from Junafilm, the animation filmmakers Fabian&Fred and the Schleswig-Holstein marine filmmaker and VR expert Daniel Opitz will receive funding.

We have selected an exciting mix of newcomers, independent Executive Producers and North German originals from among the selected production companies and writing teams. I am sure that we will see many special and hopefully unconventional projects over the next three years that will show what our location has to offer. This was made possible by around two million euros provided at short notice by the states of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein. Chapeau for this!"

The Executive Producers who have now received funding have each submitted the first of their three projects for the "3x3" incentive funding programme. The other two film ideas will follow in the next three years. Particularly important for the funding decision was the proximity of the content to the Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein region and a well thought-out company concept.

What is the 3x3 special programme? The "3x3" incentive funding programme stands for three scripts in three years and is intended to provide impetus for the future in the regional film industry despite the current severe losses caused by the coronavirus crisis. Production companies with a special connection to the funding region were able to apply for this unique funding instrument together with Script Writers and/or Directors until the end of April. 150,000 euros will be awarded per funding measure.
