North German fabrics, thought big
15.02.2021 | Welcome to the Nordbuster Committee
Would you like a little more? Up to four times a year, our Nordbuster committee supports projects from northern Germany that have what it takes to become a cinema hit. You can find out exactly what we are looking for and who can apply here.
What we are looking for
Roughly speaking, we are looking for great cinema that is strongly connected to our region. On the one hand, we are interested in the content. Is the film set in Hamburg and/or Schleswig-Holstein? Is this also visible in the film? Are the protagonists perhaps from our region? Or is there a historical context? We are curious to see how the north is reflected in your stories.
Another important criterion is the cultural and economic significance. Your production must be big enough to bring work for very different trades and people from the film industry to the region. Think big and show us something that can inspire a wide audience - preferably with a fresh idea. We would particularly like to encourage young Directors and Script Writers at this point - because 25 per cent of the funding pot should go to up-and-coming projects. In this way, we want to strengthen the development of talent at the location and show that commercial ambition and working with young talent do not have to be mutually exclusive.
It doesn't matter whether the story is already finished or you are currently working on the script. The Committee supports both script development and production costs for feature-length cinema films.
Who can apply?
Only Executive Producers are eligible to apply to the Nordbuster Committee. Up-and-coming directors or Script Writers who wish to apply for Fundings must therefore bring a production company on board as a partner in advance.
For experienced Executive Producers, the Nordbuster funding pot is a perfect opportunity to give new talent a chance. Submissions do not have to be limited to the Nordbuster Committee, as further funding can also be applied for in the High End Committee (for films with production costs of over 3.5 million euros). Both Committees have the same submission deadlines.
The funding pot
The Nordbuster Committee has one million euros at its disposal each year, which is divided between up to four funding sessions. The money is made available by Hamburg-based Warner Bros. Entertainment GmbH for fiduciary management. No person who is directly dependent on Warner Bros. will be appointed to the corresponding Nordbuster committee.
