19.03.2021 | Apply now
With the "Film Heritage" funding programme, the German Federal Film Board (FFA) has been awarding up to ten million euros annually for the digitisation of cinema films since 2019. The deadline for the current funding round is 20 April 2021.
It doesn't matter whether it's a feature-length or short film: works of particular film-historical significance or documentary or artistic value from all film genres are eligible for funding. Hamburg audiences were recently able to see the potential of digitalisation on the big screen with classics such as "Nordsee ist Mordsee" by Hark Bohm and Fatih Akin's "Short Sharp Shock". Up to 40,000 euros will be awarded per film as a non-repayable grant. The rights holders of the film or persons who are in possession of the original material and have the consent of the rights holder are eligible to apply.
